Honestly spoken there are mainly two positions that make an X-Ray inspection system more expensive (TCO-wise) than a metal detector. The generator and the receiver. These two components are differently priced from supplier to supplier. And some of them last ten or more years, some of them have to be changed every two years ore more often. Generally spoken every X-Ray inspection system is the better metal detector. So in 98% of the time the answer would be YES. When you try to figure out which supplier will meet your demands best, you will probably have a trial and test the machine in your factory or at the supplier´s testing-center.
